Courtney Wallingford

Research Coordinator

PhD, MSc (Genetic Counselling), BSc

Bit about me

I am currently a researcher coordinator with IGM. I completed my PhD in 2024 at the University of Queensland, specialising in the clinical translation of polygenic scores for melanoma risk assessment. Originally from Ontario, Canada, I moved to Australia in 2017 after completing my BSc and Honours in Genetics at the University of Western Ontario. I later earned my MSc in Genetic Counselling from the University of Technology Sydney (2019–2020) before undertaking my PhD with the Integrating Genomics into Medicine group at the University of Queensland.

Beyond my research, I have developed expertise in science policy through an internship with the Australian Academy of Science and have formal training in project management (RMIT). I am highly skilled in science communication, with a passion for translating complex research into practical applications and policy frameworks.
